Players are able to only earn two Renown ranks per week absent a new Covenant chapter that is not unlocked WOTLK Gold. If they do they'll be capped at three. There is an integrated catch-up mechanic that is available for alts and for players who miss a week, however.  When players utilize an alt or do not play for a few weeks of play the Renown cap for them will be at the present ceiling instead of the usual three.
